Astrology is indeed a very interesting science and one that has been around for thousands of years since the times of Babylon. Throughout the centuries the knowledge and meaning of each planet and stars effect on the populous has been passed down to the students of astrology who have also carried out their own research and successfully used this knowledge in a professional capacity. It is widely regarded that the following meanings have attached themselves to the various planetary and celestial bodies in the sky. This is one of the things that enables me to undertake my chart analysis.
The Sun everyone knows their Sun sign this is purely from your date of birth each month of the year correlates with a different Sun sign if you were born at the beginning of October you are a Libra. The Moon moves very quickly compared with most other planets and it takes approximately 2 ½ days to go through one sign this means that the Moon could change signs on the day of your birth this is why the time is important. The Moon governs your emotions if you have the Moon in Leo you will probably be very dramatic and like being the centre of attention. The Moon is all about the inner you, what shapes your emotions and your soul. It colours your subconscious, your deepest needs, and what helps you feel emotionally secure.
Mercury this planet determines your communication skills your intellect and awareness. It represents logic and reasoning, our manner of thinking, and how we create and express our thought processes and memory for example if Mercury is in the sign of Taurus your mind will probably work at a slower pace where you like to think first before acting.

Venus represents your sense of beauty, your enjoyment of pleasure, aesthetic awareness, harmony, sociability, eroticism, as well as your attitude toward romance, money, personal possessions, and creature comforts. Venus is your ability to express affection, and to attract and appreciate the things of the world, whether they’re emotional, physical/material, mental, or spiritual. If Venus is in the sign of Scorpio you will probably be intense and passionate and attracted more towards physical and spiritual.
Mars this planet determines your energy, drive and determination. How you pursue your goals, assert yourself, attack and defend. It also points to how competitive you are. For example if someone has Mars in the sign of Aries it will probably make them very competitive with the ability to lead from the front.
Jupiter this planet is all about expansion and growth and is generally associated with good luck, bounty and optimism. For example if someone has Jupiter is in the sign of Cancer they may attract good fortune when they are sympathetic, charitable and comforts others.
Saturn this planet represents maturity, responsibility and discipline. It brings meaning and structure to your life and reminds you about the restrictions of matter and time. Saturn highlights our need for limitations and self-control and creates dedication to responsibility and discipline something which is necessary if you want to succeed in your goals. For example if someone has Saturn in the sign of Gemini it will possibly mean that they feel uncomfortable expressing their superficial and enthusiastic side and have a dislike for small talk.
Uranus this planet is all about invention, risk, originality, change, suddenness, independence, excitement, magnetism and unpredictability. Uranus creates unconventional people by charging their internal reality to absorb the spirit of the new age inventors, geniuses and innovators. For example if someone has Uranus in the sign of Pisces they are probably interested in making changes, innovating, and updating traditions related to spirituality, compassion, religion, the arts, attitudes toward mental health, and understanding.
Neptune this planet denotes imagination, illusion, glamour, mystique, fantasy, faith and intuition. It relates to the deepest wells of subconscious and rules every aspect of our lives that is unseen and mysterious. This planet is associated with those subtle forces of life that dissolve and undermine the artificial barriers of time and ego. For example if someone has Neptune in the sign of Sagittarius it is liable to encourage a capacity to take a strong lead, especially in intellectual or spiritual areas of endeavour.
Pluto this planet represents regeneration and transformation. It is associated with renewal and rebirth, endings and new beginnings, as well as spiritual growth and rebirth. It can also mean an obsessive desire for power and control. For example if someone has Pluto in the sign of Virgo they may become obsessed with little details and can make anything better.
The Ascendant is a very important point on a person’s chart and is found on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth and is always placed on the cusp of the first house in astrology. It is how you present yourself to the world and how others see you. For example if someone has the ascendant in the sign of Aquarius they will probably be very individualistic and ahead of their time.
The Midheaven is another important point on a person’s chart and is found at the highest point of the chart. It denotes your career and public image. For example if someone has their midheaven in the sign of Capricorn they will probably understand the value of goal setting and work to achieve a broad perspective on their business and how their role can impact it.
Of course this is one part of building up the chart analysis as there are also the aspects between the planets and points and the house positions to take into account.
